Our Story

Our doors first opened on October 9th, 1936, when Bernard Dervan realized his dream of owning a store. Starting from 62 Main Street, Loughrea, Bernard set the foundation for a family business that still stands strong today. His approach was simple yet revolutionary: honest pricing and quality products. Dervans Fashions quickly became known as “The One Price House,” where customers paid the same price regardless of their status.

Over the years, the business expanded, both in size and product range. In 1963, Bernard expanded the store, and by 1973, footwear became part of the product offering. His son Gerard and daughter-in-law Mary continued the family tradition, working tirelessly through economic challenges in the 1980s and bringing fresh energy to the store.

Growth and Expansion

The 1990s and 2000s saw Dervans Fashions grow even further, with Gerard and Mary’s children, Sinead, Rónán, and Cliona, joining the business. They helped guide the store through the ups and downs of the Celtic Tiger years and the challenges that followed. Today, the family remains committed to the core values Bernard set in 1936: offering high-quality products at honest prices.
